pest control

There are so many options for houseplant pest control out there. Below are my top 3 ways to combat the pests. Each pest is different, and one method may be better than another based on the type of pest you are dealing with. Contact me to find out the best method for your pest problem.

Snake Plant

biological pest control

Biological pest control uses natural predators, parasites, or pathogens to manage pest populations in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. Instead of chemicals, it harnesses nature's own mechanisms to keep pests in check.

Third & fern orders beneficial bugs from Koppert Canada. I have had good success from this company compared to others.

Box of Plants

insecticide spray

For most pests an insecticide spray like Safer's End All or Safer's Insecticidal Soap are going to be your best bet. You simply spray your plant all over, and wait for the soap to do its job! I like to rinse off the dead bugs after a few hours. You will need to do this process 1-2 times a day until you no longer see evidence of pests.

You can use the insecticide soap as a preventative as well. Use once a month, along with a rinse off to keep your plants in better condition.

Box of Plants

bug bombs / fogging

This method is relatively new to me, but I have tested it out for you all!

While this method worked great, it did leave damage to about 1/4 - 1/3 of my plants. I had a BAD case of thrips all over my 100 approx plants and couldn't get rid of them.

The fogging worked, but I learned a couple lessons from my first time trying it.

- You don't need the large can, the smaller or medium can will be just fine.

- Leave some space separating your plants from the bug bomb can. I had my plants right beside the can and those are the plants that are damaged.
